About

Like a typical tourist πŸ˜€

This blog is all about being positive and curious about the mystery of life. Inspired by many books I’ve read, movies I’ve watched and thoughts I had, I decided to start my own Happiness Project. However, this is not as much about my journey as about encouraging people to try out new patterns of thinking about the world and the true meaning of happiness. Follow this blog for your daily shot of positiveness. The actual impact on your life guaranteed!

And now a few lines about the author…

My name is Magdalena and I come from a small town in Poland. I have spent 19 years of my life there before going to college to Warsaw. Before finishing my bachelor at Warsaw School of Economics, I have spent the last semester of my studies in Lausanne, Switzerland, with which I fell in love completely.

I have always been a travelling enthusiast. When I was young, my parents used to take me and my sister on holidays, each year to a different country. This has spiced up my hunger for adventures and woke a desire to construct my life in a way in which I wouldn’t be attached to any particular place in the world and would be able to discover new places all the time. When I went for an exchange to Switzerland, I realised how amazing life could be. I knew that I didn’t want to come back to Poland and half of a year in Lausanne was definitely not enough for me.

A little bit of heaven…

Being surrounded by the beauty of nature – the lake Leman, the mountains, the greenery, and having my graduation coming so soon, I have started thinking about the next steps. I had to make a decision what to do with my life. While most of my peers were either applying for the master’s course or for internships in big companies, I felt paralysed by the vision of doing either of those things. I knew that I wanted to do something different in life. In fact, even though I’ve been studying Quantitative Methods in Economics and Information Systems, I have spent a huge amount of time developing my true passions – writing poetry and stories, dancing, discovering different philosophies and psychological theories on life and happiness. I have even started writing two books I hope to publish soon.
On one hand I felt the strong desire to live for my ideals and passions, which made me truly happy and on the other – I felt the pressure to actually get independent from my parents and earn the living on my own.

As for now, I am still in Switzerland. I ended up completing a Master in Information Systems and as a graduate I look towards the future with more hope and clarity than ever. Every day I am discovering new ways to incorporate my passions into my life and career and as much as not all the answers are yet there for me to see, I am more than happy to enjoy the journey as it unfolds. I am currently working in IT consulting, working for companies with environmental impact which for me perfectly combines the passion and meaning.

I believe that every human being has the right and the ability to live his/her dreams. If you believe strong enough and find the courage to act on those beliefs, amazing things can happen!

I would like to thank you dear visitor for coming across my blog and reading this introduction. I hope that my posts and ideas will help you change your life in a significant way or at the least challenge the way you think about life.
The realization of your dreams is closer than you think!

Love,
Magdalena

  28. Hi Magdelena,
Thank you for following my blog. In reading about you, I have to ask: Do you know Julia Krasnyuk from Ukraine? I believe Julia graduated recently from the school of Economics in Warsaw. Julia was an exchange student with us in the USA about 6 years ago. I am sure there are a LOT of students in your school, but I had to ask. Anyway, great stuff you are posting — keep up the good work in Warsaw!
