Why you need to start changing your life by changing what you put on your plate

It’s hard to find a person who hasn’t heard about the need to eat healthy. We hear almost every day that the preservatives in food are bad for us, that eating sugar causes wrinkles, diabetes and cancer and that eating greasy foods leads to heart diseases. Still, it seems that often times people LISTEN to all the advice but don’t actually end up HEARING it.

Not long ago I was a person trying to eat healthy but nevertheless always finding herself going back to the guilty pleasures of cookies, chocolate etc. It wasn’t until I’ve read a great book on this topic that made me realize quite a few important things and mechanisms that were triggering my behaviour.

Studying the material on how different kinds of food actually affect human body finally opened my eyes. I realized that the sugar and chemical preservatives with untested and unpredictable influence on us, not only affect how I look, but also how I feel and how clearly I think. After all, whatever we put into our mouths, is distributed through our blood to every single part of our body – including our brain.

However, the breakthrough for me was that I decided that I want to take full responsibility for my life and live more consciously. And living consciously means I should make conscious decisions because every single decision I make, no matter how little, affects what happens in my life. It seems utterly stupid for a conscious, intelligent adult to consume certain products while being aware that this action will lead to the misery of pains, diseases, bad moods and clouded thoughts. The more logical thing to do would be to eat healthy, nutritious products such as vegetables, fruits, groats, different seeds, nuts, wholemeal bread etc., which will give us strength, enhance the immunity system and brain power, smooth our skin and give us energy.

I’ve developed a habit of considering the results of each action I take, including the results of each piece of food I eat. I study labels carefully and start to realize that very often food is made to imitate something healthy but in fact contains tons of preservatives, colourings and flavour enhancers. Thanks to this, I don’t have to force myself or suffer from cutting on my favourite foods. I’m making a conscious decision to provide valuable nutrition with every meal I have, treating my body like a temple. This way I only feel the happiness from not eating another candy bar as I realize how much harm it would bring. Furthermore, after just a few days I’m starting to see the amazing benefits coming from this new habit. The most significant for me is that my thoughts have become so strangely clear. My brain has become sharp and without any further adjustments the previous desire to do nothing and put things off for later has magically disappeared, leaving me ready to take more action towards achieving my goals and bring more value into my life in every possible way. Also, my beliefs in achieving my goals have sky-rocketed!

Sounds like magic? Well, I’m speaking from my own experience so I can guarantee that you can get to the same results by changing the way you approach your eating behaviours.

Remember, if you want to be able to design your life exactly the way you want thus realizing your full potential, you need to take full responsibility for yourself and start living more consciously. Believe me, it’s worth it!

  1. This is so true! I actually always enjoyed the healthy food but nowadays it’s possible to eat a lot of sugars without knowing it. They put sugar in everything!

And thank you very much for following my blog! Let me know what you think anytime!

  2. You are so right about this discovery. My blog started as a result of blogging for the TrimDown Club. I am an administrator of a support and encouragement group in this online lifestlyeplan. I have led a life of trying to get control of my weight through any means possible. Starvation… gastric bypass… WW(yuk), Dolly Parton’s cabbage soup diet and many others. They were all just that. Trim down is about eating healthy foods, no preservatives, natural as possible!!! I feel wonderful and so many lives have been turned completely around by no sugar. This plan is based on a menu planner that you plug in your favorite foods and it pop out a healthy lifestly plan. No counting anything!!! Thanks for writing about healthy living. You never know who is hanging on by a thread!

    • Oh, sounds really cool, I will check it out! Yeah, it’s so important. Often people don’t even realize how significant is the impact of what they’re eating on virtually every single aspect of their lives.
