I’ve recently moved from Switzerland to Spain. This rather controversial choice as seen by many, has been my attempt to listen to my inner voice and follow my joy rather than success, money or expectations of others. Being here now with more free time on my hands due to the choice of reducing my working hours as well, I found myself coming back to the eternal question of how to find happiness.

What to do when your life sucks
Today, while having my gym session, I was thinking how way too often I hear people around me saying things like ‘I’m so fat’, ‘My life sucks’, ‘I never have money for anything’, ‘People don’t like me’, ‘Old ladies and teenagers have a better sex life than me’, ‘I can’t change’, ‘It’s too difficult’, ‘I hate my job’ and so on and so on. For me, all of these statements fall into one huge category called ‘complaining’. Seriously people, I don’t mean to offend anyone but it seems that somehow we have become a generation which expects a lot and yet is not particularly willing to put much effort in it. We want things to happen to us just like that, for free. The thing is, it doesn’t work this way. If you want to change something, then stop complaining and do something about it. Continue reading
What if… there is no point?
Recently I have come across a couple of recordings that have influenced my life philosophy significantly. I have been fascinated by the zen teachings for quite some time and it was natural for me to explore what Alan Watts, the great speaker and philosopher, interested in this topic, had to say. You can make excuses or you can make it happen
Lately I have been thinking about the dynamics that determine the direction of our lives. And analysing my own life, it became pretty obvious – in the end the times when I actively took action instead of waiting around for something to happen, account for the biggest and most positive breakthroughs. F**k it and set yourself free
Some time ago I came across a really simple but extremely powerful idea for life philosophy. I have been searching for some inspiring books in the psychological books section and what caught my eye was the title of a little black book, which read: ‘F**k it’. At the first sight, the book seemed more entertaining than practical.Ā It was fun to read all those tips about saying f**k it and for instance singing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ out loud in public or doing plenty of other random things that were in the end supposed to make one feel free. The funny thing is that now as I look back, the once completely abstract idea has started to make more and more sense in my life. Continue reading
Perfection
Today, I’m reposting another poem from my poetry blog. As you can see from the title, it’s about perfection, which I think lies in the simplest things. The only difficulty is to actually notice it around you and embrace it. I believe thatĀ being attentive toĀ those perfect little moments of enjoying an amazing landscape or the sunbeams on your skinĀ isĀ crucial in the overall experience of happiness and fulfilment.
