Lately I have been thinking about the dynamics that determine the direction of our lives. And analysing my own life, it became pretty obvious – in the end the times when I actively took action instead of waiting around for something to happen, account for the biggest and most positive breakthroughs. Some time ago I came across a really simple but extremely powerful idea for life philosophy. I have been searching for some inspiring books in the psychological books section and what caught my eye was the title of a little black book, which read: ‘F**k it’. At the first sight, the book seemed more entertaining than practical. It was fun to read all those tips about saying f**k it and for instance singing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ out loud in public or doing plenty of other random things that were in the end supposed to make one feel free. The funny thing is that now as I look back, the once completely abstract idea has started to make more and more sense in my life. Continue reading
Today, I’m reposting another poem from my poetry blog. As you can see from the title, it’s about perfection, which I think lies in the simplest things. The only difficulty is to actually notice it around you and embrace it. I believe that being attentive to those perfect little moments of enjoying an amazing landscape or the sunbeams on your skin is crucial in the overall experience of happiness and fulfilment.
The weekend is coming and it’s time for some positive inspiration! Here is a collection of a few quotes I’ve found particularly true and uplifting. As cliché as they may sound, they actually give some straight to-the-point advice on how to be happy in life. Enjoy! 🙂 Continue reading
During my spring break I went back to Poland to celebrate Easter with my family. I was also hosting some friends from Switzerland (where I’m living at the moment) and wanted to show them some places in my country of origin. Naturally, I took them to a beautiful little town – Kazimierz Dolny, which is really close to my home town. As we were walking along the river and enjoying the stunning views, I noticed a really interesting graffiti on the wall beside. Surrounded by all the ugly and nonsense scribbles, there were two identical owls with the following words underneath: Continue reading
Every once in a while each of us encounters those special words on our way. It might be one sentence or a few, but it has an extremely powerful impact on us and can provoke a massive shift in thinking. Often, these words come to you when you least expect them, from a place where you would least expect them to appear. Not a long time ago, I’ve encountered this kind of quote in a song of Chrysta Bell and David Lynch. It’s about searching for happiness within yourself instead of the outside world. I find it really true for myself.
Recently, I’ve watched a really interesting video which made me think about the ways I could change my life by changing my behavior. It was a talk on vulnerability made by a researcher – Brene Brown. She introduces a fascinating concept of vulnerability being a positive thing. Continue reading
I wasn’t around here for quite some time but now I’m back for good! And I have plenty of treats for you up my sleeve so be prepared! 🙂
This song has become popular from the very first moment it was released but I’m pretty sure it’s not just because of the fact that it’s sung by Pharrell Williams… There is something to it that actually seems to cheer people up. Any time I hear it in public, people around me start to swing to the rhythm, hum or simply smile. It’s amazing!
That’s why I strongly recommend it for your personal positive music collection. If you don’t have your playlist yet, you should definitely make it right now. It’s a great tool to have close at hand any time you feel bad. Music has the real power to change your mood instantly, so why not use it?
When I look out the window on the gloomy autumn days, I often catch myself getting melancholic and sad. There’s just something depressing about the rain and the lack of sunshine. However, luckily there are some ways that can instantly cheer up even the most prone to getting depressed souls.
